Atmosphere

The lodge cultivates a calm, outward-facing atmosphere. From the terrace, you regularly observe baboons crossing the fields and Maasai herders moving their livestock. Evenings revolve around the campfire and dining room after long days on safari. Lighting is deliberately soft, in keeping with the solar system that powers everything.

Note: hair dryers are not permitted in rooms, as the solar installation cannot support them. A quirk that perfectly captures the lodge's philosophy.

Accommodation

The lodge offers two types of units:

• Cottages in twin, double, or triple configuration, suited to couples and families alike.
• Rondavels with canvas walls, closer to the classic safari tent experience.

Each unit features hand-crafted African wooden furniture and a veranda with safari chairs, opening onto fields and hills. Rooms are equipped with mosquito nets, a power outlet, a flashlight, and an umbrella. Hot water is provided by solar panels.

Services and dining

Common areas include a restaurant and bar, a large dining room, a lounge, a campfire area, and a swimming pool with terrace. Free Wi-Fi is available in public spaces.

Cuisine draws on fresh ingredients from local Karatu farms. Breakfast is served as a buffet (eggs to order, fruits, pastries, cereals). Lunch alternates between salads, quiches, pizzas, and slow-cooked dishes. Dinner is served at table or buffet-style, featuring Tanzanian specialties, international options, and vegetarian dishes. For full days in the parks, the lodge prepares packed lunches. Special dietary requirements are accommodated upon request, to be mentioned in advance.

Address: PP67+P26, Rhotia Valley Road, a short distance from the main road serving the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and close to Lake Manyara National Park.

Two access options from Arusha:

• By car with your tour operator, approximately 2 hours 40 minutes of travel.
• By air, a roughly 30-minute flight from Arusha or Kilimanjaro to Lake Manyara airstrip, then 40 minutes by road to the lodge.
