The dry season from June to October offers the best conditions for diving and snorkeling, with maximum visibility. Whale sharks are sighted in Mafia's waters from October to March. The rainy season (April-May) should be avoided, as several island establishments close during this period.

Chole Island, just 5 minutes by boat east of Mafia, merits a half-day visit.
