Flights

Tanzania is served by numerous airlines through two international airports: Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam and Kilimandjaro International Airport (JRO). Among the major airlines operating flights between Tanzania and the rest of the world are: Air Kenya, Air Uganda, British Airways, EgyptAir, Emirates Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, KLM, South African Airways, and Swiss International Airlines.

Your choice of airport will depend on the activities and sites you wish to visit. For safaris and exploring northern Tanzania, Kilimandjaro International Airport (JRO) is recommended. Conversely, for beach holidays, Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam is the ideal choice.

Bus

Direct buses to Tanzania only depart from Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, and Uganda. All others stop at the country's border. If you opt for the first option, keep your documents—particularly your passport and visas—within reach, as local authorities will need to stamp them when you cross the border. As for the second option, changing buses at the border, you needn't worry! You'll find ticket kiosks readily available. The main routes served are Arusha–Dar es Salaam and Mbeya–Dar es Salaam.
