Passport
To venture into Tanzania's wild landscapes, you'll need a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into the country. If you're traveling with family, keep in mind that your children, regardless of age, must also have an individual passport.
Visa for Tanzanie
In addition to your passport, a visa is mandatory for French, Belgian, and Swiss nationals. Only citizens of Commonwealth countries and Scandinavian nations are exempt.
How to Obtain Your Tanzanian Visa
There are two ways to obtain your Tanzanie visa.
The first is to apply through the embassy or consulate of your home country. You'll need to provide several documents:
- a valid passport,
- a passport-sized photograph,
- a travel attestation,
- a photocopy of your airline ticket.
You'll also be asked to complete a form and pay 50 euros for a single-entry visa, or 70 euros for a multiple-entry visa. Note that payment must be made in cash only. Processing typically takes 5 business days for standard applications, or 15 days if applying by mail.
The alternative way to obtain a Tanzanie visa is to get it upon arrival in the country. You can do this at the international airports in Dar es-Salaam, Arusha, or Zanzibar, or at the following border crossings: Namanga, Tunduma, Holili, Taveta, Sirati, and Horohoro. The visa fee is 50 US dollars, payable in cash. Visa forms are provided upon arrival. Tourist visas are valid for three months from the date of issue.
