It's well-known that Tanzanie boasts some of Africa's most spectacular wildlife reserves. From vast savannas to volcanic craters to lakes and wetlands, set out in search of the legendary "big five" (the five largest and most powerful mammals of the territory: buffalo, rhinoceros, elephant, lion and leopard) and countless other species! To begin our wild Tanzanian expedition, we invite you to discover the most beautiful safaris in Northern Tanzanie.
Arusha National Park
Located around Mount Meru (Africa's 5th highest peak) in the northeast of Tanzanie, Arusha National Park covers 137 km². It is home to extensive rainforest that forms the habitat for numerous species. Accompanied by a ranger, embark on a wildlife safari where you might spot monkey families, bird colonies, buffalo, antelopes, and even giraffes, zebras, and more rarely, leopards!
Ngorongoro Crater
Perched approximately 180 km west of Arusha, the Ngorongoro Crater rises to 2,200 m altitude and offers a caldera 20 km in diameter and 600 m deep. For that alone, you cannot miss it! But what interests us here particularly are its vast stretches of pastureland and its inhabitants… During a wildlife safari at Ngorongoro Crater, you will admire all the savanna animals: hippopotamus, elephant, black rhinoceros, lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, warthog, wildebeest, gazelle, hyena, jackal…
Lake Manyara National Park
A change of scenery at Lake Manyara National Park, 100 km from Arusha. Here, savanna gives way and the landscape is dominated by wetlands and a lake covering approximately 231 km². Many herbivorous animals coexist here, including impala, hippopotamus, elephant, wildebeest, buffalo, warthog and giraffe. But there are also many primates such as the green monkey and baboon and impressive birds like the flamingo, pelican and roller.
Tarangire National Park
It is the sixth largest national park in East Africa. With an area of 2,850 km², the Tarangire National Park is an essential destination to discover during a trip to Tanzanie. Nestled in the Manyara region, the reserve is renowned for the presence of Africa's largest mammals such as elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, lion, cheetah and leopard. Around the wetlands and other watering holes, you will spot numerous migratory birds (no fewer than 500 species are recorded!).
Serengeti National Park
Here is yet another of the most significant sanctuaries of African wildlife and one of the most renowned wild reserves in the world (no less)! Serengeti National Park is located in north-central Tanzanie. Given the incredible variety of species it harbors, this reserve guarantees an emotion-filled safari! Many come to capture images of the famous "big five"! But it is also home to lesser-known animals such as topi, hartebeest, eland, impala, Grant's gazelle, serval, Nile crocodile, leopard tortoise, black mamba, black-necked spitting cobra and many more…
Lake Natron
This is the place to be for flamingo lovers! Indeed, each year an breathtaking spectacle unfolds here, to discover during a photo safari. From June to November, more than three million dwarf flamingos arrive to breed here. A vivid and colorful display you won't soon forget…
